Unusual hotels that take your holiday up a notch!

Unusual hotels that take your holiday up a notch!

Life’s too short for another luxury hotel! Ever thought about sleeping in a bubble instead? You’ve spent at least half of your holidays going to overpriced hotels that look like it came right out of a millionaire’s wet dream. So, why not tear your gaze away from all of that for a minute and look at these unusual hotels? (no offence to random millionaire whose wet dream contains an overpriced hotel)

The Golden Crown Igloos, Lapland

Based on an array of questionable life choices, I can confirm that visiting Lapland is about as close as I’ll get to seeing heaven. But hey, let’s not get into the topic of me rotting in the scorching pits of hell, let’s talk about the Golden Crown Igloos in Lapland instead!

Now, let me set the scene! Imagine being huddled in the comfort of your warm blanket as you see the colours of the northern lights paint the dark skies of Lapland. A surreal wave of neon green dances right above the glass ceiling of your igloo while the wind delicately howls throughout the winter night. With the breath of Lapland gently touching your skin, you slowly start to drift away, and the snowflakes begin to melt into the crystal-clear shield around you, just as daylight slowly peeks out.

Uh, a dream come true if you ask me! Also, while we’re on the topic, I’d like to quickly establish that we have some amazingly wallet-friendly holiday deals to Lapland. So, you know the drill! Call us or toss a message our way if you’re interested.

The Pinecone Treehouse, California

My mind? Blown.
My kidneys? Sold.
My flight? Booked.

I would do just about anything to visit this pristine treehouse. Can you imagine walking through a forest and having the mindset to wish you could sleep inside a pinecone? Because in all honesty, I can. It’s incredibly normal compared to the other stuff that runs through my head at 2:37 in the morning.

Tucked away in the majestic redwoods in Alameda, California is an architectural marvel that’s begging to be explored. Heh, sounds dirty. But I didn’t mean it that way.

This humble treehouse is a work of art fuelled by creativity and a desire to capture every bit of dramatic beauty the forest bestows. The see-through ceiling & floor panels showcase 360-degree views of the forest enveloping you, and the interior makes this woodland retreat even more hypnotising. But wait! Did I forget to mention that the treehouse will be almost 60 feet from the ground? Yeah, it’s awe-inspiring in every way possible.

So, if you love witnessing nature at its best or enjoy role-playing as a squirrel, this is where you need to be!

Treehotel, Sweden

I’ve found it! The peak of human creations, the height of everlasting innovation – Dear fellow humans, extraterrestrials and unclassified beings who pour milk after cereal, feast your eyes on this otherworldly spectacle!

  • THE 7TH ROOM
  • THE BIRD'S NEST
  • THE BLUE CONE
  • THE CABIN
  • THE DRAGONFLY
  • THE MIRRORCUBE
  • THE UFO

That’s right, the Treehotel in Sweden is an ethereal hideaway for anyone in desperate need of a digital detox. Once you’ve clapped eyes at the mesmerising set of rooms in front of you, there’s no turning back from having a unique stay.

From the meticulously built mirrorcube and the harmony inducing birdnest to the heavily space-inspired UFO hovering amongst the trees, there’s a lot of things that the Treehotel brings to the table. Translation? This is one of those unusual hotels that you don’t want to miss visiting.

My personal favourite? The mirrorcube. It made my jaw-drop the first time I saw it, and it still does, every time I go to their website. Stained with illusion-evoking architecture, this room is an idyllic interlude – one that takes you away from every little bit of normality you’ve grown accustomed to.

The 5 Million Star Hotel, Iceland

Oh, Sugar Honey Iced Tea! Iceland’s not playing around when it comes to flipping you over and amazing the living lights out of you. What in the winter wonderland do we have here? It looks like everything I would love to have but can’t afford (yay! More things I can’t have in life).

Consider me amazed. If you’re not, we won’t be exchanging Christmas cards this year. But anyway, with the bubble room, you can get as close to nature as you want! Unwind and lose yourself in a mellifluous reverie that sings your dream of sleeping under the aurora borealis to reality.

Experience the grand gesture of Iceland’s scenery and take your stay out of this world.

Hey, wait a minute – that kind of sounds like a really bad AD. Like the ones with the snobby robotic voiceover – you know what I’m talking about, right?

Conrad, Maldives

I’m: spiralling&questioningwhati’mdoingwithmylifewhensuchbeautyexists.

Oh god, I haven’t smiled this wide since the day I saw 6ix9ine have a public meltdown on the streets after his album flopped. Now, coming back to the matter at hand – the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is an elegant oasis, and like most people, if you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to spend a day under the ocean – then congratulations, you’ve found the place you need to be. I also hear that the toiletries are to die for, meaning that it’s definitely something you need to steal when you check out.

What? Don’t judge; we’ve all done it. At least once.
