What kind of holiday can I have in Sri Lanka?

It’s a destination that’s more than fit for a great family-friendly trip, solo adventure or a honeymoon escape. It’s one of the reasons that it got on the tourist radar in the first place.

Is Sri Lanka worth my time?

Of course, the sheer range of attractions to see and things to do alone make it undeniably alluring. So, I think it’s safe to say that Sri Lanka is in fact, worth your time. If you want a better answer, make sure you give our E-Books a chance.

What about accomadation?

The options are almost endless with this one! You see, Sri Lanka plays host to a series of five-star hotels, meaning your experience won’t be anything short of grand. However, if this is exactly what your budget needs, you’ll be able to find motels, smaller resorts, bungalows and villas to suit your needs. Not to mention the myriad of wallet-friendly four and three-star hotels. So, there’s no need for worrying about your accommodation.

What should I pack?

It really depends on where you’re going and when you’re going. Religious places have a strict protocol when it comes to clothes where people should cover themselves up. However, other than that you can wear almost anything that goes with the warm climate, sundresses, shorts, t-shirts and sandals are some of the clothes that you can wear to fight off the heat.

When should I visit?

If you’re heading to the west, or south coasts and the hill country, then you’re best off going between December and March.

If you’re intending to make your way to the east coast and the north you’ll find the best time of year to visit Sri Lanka is from April or May to September.

How long should I stay?

Sri Lanka’s compact size and the accessibility of most major attractions means that even a week will allow you to visit a number of different areas. But to experience the island properly, a two-week stay is advisable.

How do I get around?

Sri Lanka has a great transportation link. So you have a lot of choices when it comes to public transportation. Buses and trains are the best way to explore the country, especially if you’re on a budget. But tuk-tuks and apps like Uber make travelling across the country more comfortable in comparison.

Should I get travel insurance?

Yes, Sri Lanka is a generally safe place to visit. However, petty theft is still very much real, and in the event of this unfortunate scenario, you’ll be able to benefit greatly from insurance.

Cash or cards?

While smaller shops do accept only cash, many places are now becoming more accustomed to the idea of accepting cards. So, if you’re heading somewhere high-scale, there should be no problem with credit cards. Street vendors and small grocery shops, on the other hand, will usually not accept your card.
