I was going through a lot of problems and I needed to go somewhere to distract myself and be able to relax from all the chaos, so the first thing I did was try to find a warm place that had fascinating scenery and wide beaches of crystal clear water. After having made an investigation I decided to make a trip to the Turkish coasts of the Aegean, specifically to the city of Izmir.
For me Izmir has without a doubt the most beautiful landscapes in the world. It is a coastal city that is located on the shores of the Aegean Sea, its beaches are paradisiacal and surrounded by olive groves, cliffs and pine forests. It is full of fishermen, summer villages, culture and mythology. Its history dates back more than 5000 years and is a perfect place to relax and forget about all the problems of daily life.
When I arrive at the Izmir-Adnan Menderes Airport I could immediately smell the fascinating aroma of the sea and see that its people are quality and charismatic. I moved to Hotel Movenpick Hotel Izmir, which was recommended by my always faithful travel agents “Travel Center UK”. It is an excellent hotel with an enviable location as it is in the center of the city. Their rooms are spacious and clean and their staff was very friendly. I also enjoyed enjoying their wonderful breakfasts that left a fascinating taste in my mouth.
The first thing I visited during my stay in this beautiful city was the Archaeological Museum, this is located near the Plaza de Konac, and where I was able to find a spectacular collection of antiquities characteristic of the civilizations that lived in the region. Its collections are considered one of the best in the world and also one of the largest. The museum is made up of 2 floors where various stone and marble sculptures, statues, busts, portraits and masks dating from the Hellenistic to Roman times are found. One of the most impressive is a statue of a priest from the Roman period of Halicarnassus, although the ones I liked the most were the statues of Poseidon and Demeter.
Then I visited the clock tower, this one is located in Ataturk Caddesi and is the symbol of the city of Izmir. This masterpiece of the 20th century has a height of 25 meters and was built in 1901 as an example of Ottoman architecture. The tower dominates a public square and has a circular base that has four fountains plus a dial in the clocks that mark the beating of ancient Smyrna. This tower is a place where you can go with your family and friends to socialize, a meeting place among the inhabitants of the city, in it I could rest and watch people doing tourism while enjoying the beautiful landscapes.
I could also visit Adnan Saygun Park; let me tell you that for me it is one of the most beautiful parks in the city. Here you can find a multitude of things to do as there is an open air museum, an amphitheater and an auditorium where all kinds of performances are performed. Due to its great reputation this park serves as a cultural center where ballet, opera, musical concerts and others are performed. Every year the International Art Festival is held, which concentrates Turkish and international artists; It is a very beautiful park that no tourist should stop visiting.
In the gastronomic area I went to the Oliver Café Bar restaurant where I spend a very pleasant evening, with a very rich atmosphere where the staff was attentive, charismatic and professional. The Turkish delights served at this restaurant are at a level that is not of this world, I tried the Kebab which was absolutely delicious and the Baklava which is a typical sweet of Turkey.
Izmir helped me to clear my head from all those complications. But, people from the “Travel Center UK” are more suitable to be thanked in this situation. Without “Travel Center UK“, I might not have journeyed to this lovely place. Thanks again friends. As they promised, they do beat any best air fares in the market. Try them once – you will feel and see the difference!
