How To Survive a Long Haul Flight

How To Survive a Long Haul Flight

Being cooped up in an aircraft cabin for eight hours straight may sound like a nightmare. Long-haul flights are a handful but it can be a great experience if you prepare ahead and follow our quick survival tips. Read on to know how you can come out of your long flight refreshed, relaxed and ready to kick-start your holiday!

Wear comfortable clothes

Wear outfits that are simple and comfortable. Cut down on your jewellery and choose your footwear carefully too. Opt for simple flip-flops or any footwear that isn’t too snug since your feet can swell at high altitudes.

Save a good seat

Since you will be flying for a long time, you want to make sure that you are absolutely comfortable. If you want more leg room, go for the exit rows and if you want to avoid the noise of children, stay away from the front of the plane as this is where special provisions for babies are available. Get an aisle seat if you would like to stretch and move about and if you want the view the spectacular views of the sceneries below, get a window seat.

Gear up for some good sleep

Get your lightweight blanket and good travel pillow ready and fall into a long sleep. Invest in a good sleep mask and a pair of earplugs so you can remain undisturbed.

Take your own snacks

Travelling long distances means that you’ll be travelling through time zones. This means that you would get unexpected bouts of hunger so instead of having to wait for the food trolley to come along, stow a few snacks such as cereal bars or dried fruits.

Just relax!

What better time than a long-haul flight to catch up on that book you’ve never had the time to read or watch some exciting movies. Use your ten hour-long flight as a bonus time to relax.

Make new friends

Get into a conversation with the person sitting next to you and this is a great way of meeting interesting people who will share their stories with you. And if you’re lucky, you may even end up making a great friend by the time you step off the plane!

Choose a good airline

Making the right airline choice can make or break your long-haul flight. Make sure to so some research before choosing your airline and consider features such as leg-room space, service standards and comfort levels.
