Holidays in Kenya get better with these attractions!

Holidays in Kenya get better with these attractions!

Yes, it’s true, I have no idea what I’m doing, but let me start this off by saying that holidays to Kenya are undoubtedly always perfect. If you think otherwise, feel free to argue with the wall. But for first-timers, & mostly solo travellers, there seems to be some confusion on what to do first, which is why you have this article to help (I think).

You see, holidays in Kenya can be spectacular no matter what route you decide to pursue. However, it’s equally vital that you get off on the right foot. Let’s remember that you’re here for what? A week? Two weeks? Sometimes even less than that! This means you’ll have to make the most of your time and cross off the best aspects of the country from your to-do list while you still can. Mess this up, and it can make your holiday’s vibe go from fantastic to full-on frustrating.

Holidays in Kenya

So, let’s quit stalling and get into these apparently “best aspects of the country” part!

Up first, we’re talking about all the panoramic scenes of Kenya. A sight for any pair of eyes, and views worth visiting. The scenic layouts of Kenya are by far one of the best ways to get your holiday senses pumped up. It makes you take a deep breath and feel like you’re at complete harmony as the wind rushes through your hair, and you stare into the perfectly painted canvas laid out in front of you.

Just keep in mind that this only happens if you’re a nature freak like I am. If you aren’t, then you’ll just have a blank stare on your face and sit there thinking about all of the embarrassing things you did in life.

But hey, here are the best places to be if you’re a sucker for chilled out views, natural splendour and everything of that sort.

Hell’s Gate National Park

Can you feel the nostalgia tonight? That’s right; if you’re a 90’s kid, then you might find it interesting to know that Hell’s Gate National Park was the inspiration behind the 1994 animated blockbuster “The Lion King”. If that doesn’t make you want to visit, then maybe you’ll love the dramatic gorges and vivid scenery surrounding it. Either way, this is one of the must-visits when it comes to Kenya’s national parks.

Aberdare mountain range

What could go wrong with the vivacious views of Kenya’s countryside and an assortment of wildlife? The sunny skies, the different shades of green around you, and just everything about the Aberdare mountain range screams perfect. Don’t you think so? (That was rhetoric)

Maasai Mara

The famous reserve is one of the most visited national reserves in all of Kenya! Why? Well, because countless travellers love the idea of exploring the expansive view of the plains and for its awe-inspiring wildebeest migration.

Now, as I said before, if you’re not a nature lover, then you’re not going to be head over heels for scenic trails, foggy valleys and flower-filled hills. So, let’s get away from nature just for a quick moment and focus on what else Kenya has to offer. After that, we’re diving right back into some of Kenya’s national parks. So, those of you who aren’t thrilled about that – beware.

Sure, Kenya’s natural landscapes are unrivalled – it’s mystifying and a breath of literal fresh air. But what else? What else does Kenya have to offer? Well, I’m glad you asked! I’ve got just what you need – or at least I think I do!

Rev it up with Kenya’s nightlife

Kenya’s nightlife hits hard. Nightclubs and lounges roar with pulsing rhythms and feet tapping beats, meaning the night doesn’t end unless you want it to, it’s every party animals’ wildest dream come true. But, if you’re one of the many that don’t enjoy loud music then don’t worry, you won’t have any trouble finding laid-back lounges with sultry jazz music, especially in Nairobi. Holidays in Kenya don’t really exclude this, it’s an experience that everyone needs to witness at all costs.

Pause the pace with a boutique hotel

Ever had the luxury of taking a moment for yourself? If you’re stuck inside the same strenuous routine that circles every day, then you have to visit one of Kenya’s many boutique hotels – you need it. Our best picks? The Giraffe Manor, where you can relax and also see Rothschild giraffes, who visit the area and poke their heads into the windows hoping for food.

The next best is The Bedelle – a grand spectacle, and a hotel that makes a statement from the very minute you set foot in. Here, luxury is guaranteed at every turn, the food is masterfully made, it’s discreet enough for couples, and also family-friendly at the same time. I mean, what more could you ask for?

P.S. don’t freak out if your hotel of choice wasn’t included! These are just our picks.

Go back in time with the UNESCO World Heritage sites

Kenya has six, SIX! Unique world heritage sites. Do you realise how much history that is? And it’s all packed into one country (Wowza). This includes Lamu Old Town, Fort Jesus, Kenya Lake Systems, Mijikenda Kaya Forests, Mt Kenya National Parks and Lake Turkana National Parks, which translates into six different opportunities for you to learn something new on your holiday to Kenya. History lovers (nerds) assemble!

So, yeah, holidays in Kenya bring out a lot of great things. But, in addition to all of this

In addition to all of this,

You get to adopt a baby elephant!!!!!!!!!!

Notice the 10 exclamation marks up there? Yeah, I did that to make a statement. A statement that there is possibly nothing more extraordinary that could come out of your holiday in Kenya than this. Listen, each conservancy in Kenya is unique and all, but there’s nothing that will touch your heart more than adopting a baby elephant at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Picture having a baby elephant walk around with you – you’ll get to play, feed and pet it. Name something better, I dare you.

Adopt a baby elephant

See? I told you holidays to Kenya were unforgettable!

Alright, we’ve stayed away from nature for far too long- let’s jump into some of Kenya’s national parks once again. Some of you may scream “oh, the horror”, but there’s really nothing I can do about it, I’m being paid to do this.

Lake Nakuru National Park

This park is where you’ll get to see a sea of pink flamingos create a sight you’ll never forget. This park also has other animals flood your view, this usually includes rhinos and zebras. But what makes it one of the best are the towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls. Yep, that’s right, Kenya’s national parks don’t go easy on you when it comes to making your jaw drop.

Lake Nakuru National Park

Mount Longonot National Park

An extinct volcano, Mount Longonot is a distinctive and unique national park to visit in Kenya. Rising dramatically towards the heavens, its slopes increase in steepness the nearer you get to the summit. There are several captivating trails and hikes around the park that take you up to the rim of the extinct volcano. Translation, go visit the mountain, it’s fun – well, correction, it’s fun for those of you who enjoy hiking; for those of you who don’t enjoy putting in more effort than the bare minimum, not so much.

So, there you have it! that is my idea on how to make holidays to Kenya better! We placed a lot of importance on Kenya’s national parks, but let’s be honest – holidays in Kenya wouldn’t be the same without those attractions.

If you’d like to know more and have some more places that would fit the whole “how to make holidays to Kenya better” narrative, feel free to leave a comment, and we’ll respond.  It’ll be a great way to help a lot of travellers.

Like I said before, holidays in Kenya are great. But if you’re thinking of visiting for a price that’s a little cheaper, then we might be able to help you out with that as well. We have a great range of luxury and wallet-friendly holiday deals that might be fit your needs. So, remember – we’re just one call or email away!

Note: Holidays to Kenya are not a threat to your health, especially if the basic guidelines are strictly followed throughout your time in the country. However, upon returning from your holiday, you must self-isolate for two weeks. This applies to British citizens.
