Light, color, and plenty of happiness. Each year, Sevilla is overtaken by its ‘Feria de Abril’, the fair of all fairs, a world where the peculiarity of the metropolis unravels with all its beauty and capability of attraction.

The carnival season in Seville travels up a little as spring comes around in the stunning main metropolis of Andalucía. Initially, Semana Santa (Holy Week) happens and then two weeks after it’s the Feria de Abril or Seville April Fair as we tourists tend to call it. Formally the Fair starts at midnight on Monday which falls two weeks following Semana Santa and concludes the next Sunday at midnight with a remarkable firework presentation above the Guadalquivir River.

Nevertheless, the inconstant dates for Easter can thrust the entire Seville April Fair into the month of May soon instances it is established that dates could be altered to make sure that at the very least the ‘Alumbrao’ (turning on of the lights) happens at the end of April.

The planned dates of the Feria for the next couple of years are as mentioned, but, do be cautioned that these dates are subject to alterations so you need to verify them with an official Seville Tourism consultant prior to reserving a holiday:

  • 2019 7-12 May.
  • 2020 28 April – 3 May.

The Fair is like a tiny, decorative town: a passing world where the homes are stands, ignited with lanterns and all the roads are titled for famous bullfighters.
