Emirates Suspends Flights to Damascus

The Dubai based airline, Emirates suspends flights to the capital of Syria, Damascus due to security reasons. Emirates operate twice a week to Damascus. However, the airline stopped operations effective immediately until further notice.

The airline apologies for any inconvenience caused to its passengers. However states the safety of the passengers and crews is top priority and will not be comprised

This was a haste decision, which comes as a result of the closure of the main airport road. This is part of the uprising and due to the fierce battles between the regime force and rebels. Moreover, the city experienced the worst communication disruption with intermittent operations of mobiles and land telephone lines.
