Every now and then, everyone needs a break from the daily grind and there’s nothing like a vacation to help kick back and relax. But before the relaxation and that vacation, you need to spend hours of meticulous planning and then you have bookings to take care of, plenty of packing and braving the hustle and bustle at the airport.
So to make one part of that stressful phase smoother, we’ve put together 15 simple airport tips that will help you travel like a pro. Regardless of whether you fly a lot for pleasure or leisure, these handy tips may do you some good:
-
- Keep a copy of all your travel details like receipts and booking numbers in your email. This helps to keep information within reach, as long as you don’t lose your phone.
-
- Instead of taking a carry-on suitcase, take a backpack which is easier to stuff in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.
-
- If you wear contact lenses, switch to glasses when you are in the air as contacts can dry out quickly and make you eyes very uncomfortable.
-
- Bring along some candy to bribe a feisty kid sitting in front of you. This will soothe them down and you will be able to get some much-needed peace too.
-
- Carry two wallets, one in which there are debit card and some cash that you can use it in public and another one with everything else that is important and better-concealed.
-
- Bags get thrown down during the baggage loading process so make sure your bag can stand a 6 to 12 feet drop.
-
- If you haven’t had your luggage weighed before you got to the airport, forget about those weight checkers where you have to pay. Instead, use the right checker at any of the unattended check-in counters instead.
-
- Take a picture of your luggage in case you lose it. That way, it makes it easier to locate in Lost & Found too.
-
- Keep a photocopy of your passport and other such important documents separate from the originals in case you lose them or if your luggage is missing or if you get robbed.
-
- If you have a lot of carry-on luggages, board as soon as you can or you will run the risk of being separated from your luggage which is both inconvenient and unsafe these days.
-
- If you don’t have stuff to store at the overhead compartment, you don’t need to board soon and add to the crowd. Further, being the last to board means you will have to spend a shorter duration towards takeoff.
-
- If your luggage is overweight, layer on some clothes that you’ve packed and switch your sandals for boots or sneakers you’ve packed in.
-
- Travelling with kids can be tiring so bring along an inflatable beach ball and let them play with it at an empty terminal. By the time your flight is due, they’ll be tired out and you’ll get to enjoy your flight.
-
- If you’re travelling with an infant and run out of warm or hot water, ask the crew. If they can make coffee, they have hot or warm water for you.
-
- To speed up the final pre-boarding check, put your boarding pass into the page where your picture and details are. Your wait will be a much shorter one.
