Headquartered in Seoul, this South Korean airline is one of the two main South Korean airlines, and has its domestic hub at Gimpo International Airport. A member of Star Alliance, the airline has code share agreements with many airlines. You can reach over 1,290 destinations in over 189 countries on more than 21,000 daily flights thanks to the Star Alliance Network of airlines. It has 14 domestic and 90 international passenger routes, and 27 cargo routes throughout Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. It has a fleet of 82, with another 38 in orders. The airline has code share agreements with Air Astana, Air Busan, Air China, Air Canada, Myanmar Airways International, South African Airways, Thai Airways International, Qantas, Air India, Ethiopian Airlines, Air New Zealand, United Airlines, and Shandong Airlines among many others. Asiana Airlines offers five classes of services – First Suite class, First class, Business Smartium class, Business class and Travel (economy) class. Seat configurations and in-flight entertainment systems vary by the type of the aircraft and its operating routes. First Suite class and First class are mainly offered in between Seoul and Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago and Frankfurt.

Economy Class
  • The comfortable Economy Class on Asiana Airways comes with audio video on demand (AVOD), on a personal monitor. With a wide range of in-flight movies, passengers will have a fun in-flight experience for the duration of their flight. You have the option of choosing from your favorite content, including movies, music and games, through the AVOD system. You can freely pause and play the movies, music and games of your choice. The dynamic experience of a large-sized personal monitor will make your flight seem shorter. Enjoy the in-flight AV experience offered by Asiana Airlines. Additionally, you can stay connected, with the satellite phone available on board in the cabin, and send and receive text messages using the personal monitor and headset in the cabin. Both Korean and English languages are supported. If you are flying with your young family, you can make use of the baby bassinet installed inside the cabin, and the baby diaper panel installed in the lavatory. Disabled passengers have a separate wheelchair-friendly toilet in the cabin.

Business Class
  • The Business Class on Asiana is named Smartium, and features a full flat-bed seat, privacy in your own dedicated space, and direct access to the aisle from each seat. The cabin has an innovative layout for a staggered seat plan. Every business smartium class seat is equipped with video on demand. Other business-class seats will be upgraded to video on demand by 2014. Apart from some routes operated by B767 and A320-100 aircraft, most of Asiana’s Travel class seats also have television or video systems. In-flight entertainment systems are not offered on domestic routes, which consist of flights of an hour or less. Keep your devices charged with PC power units and USB ports at each seat, and enjoy an uninterrupted business experience. The wide cocktail table is as wide as a main table and is the ideal space for all your paraphernalia as well as cocktails. Additionally, you have a multipurpose storage space as well as a personal cabinet. A comfortable headrest completes the experience for a great journey.

First Class
  • The beautiful and pristine First Suite Class on Asiana features the nation’s first two door seats, the world’s largest HD displays for individual passengers (32” diagonal), mini bars for individual passengers, and Star Lighting System. The seat is a 210cm fully-flat bed that allows you to sleep comfortably. The two doors can be slid together to form your own private cabin, where you can enjoy a variety of entertainment options on your very large screen. There is also a side seat for companions, allowing you to enjoy a conversation in private. The control system is embedded in the arm rest and is highly convenient. First Class on Asiana features partitions at each individual seat to allow for privacy at the seat, 180-degree bed-type seats, and a convenient automatic control system. The airline provides you with an amenities kit with the amazing Bvlgari products. Other services include AVOD entertainment, a satellite phone, in-seat power, and the ability to text message or email using the personal monitor and headset in the cabin.

In-Flights
  • The audio video on demand entertainment system brings you many movies, music options, games and programmes for many hours of uninterrupted fun. If you decide to use your own devices, you can charge them with the in-seat power outlets and USB ports. The cabins also carry satellite phones where you can pay to take calls. You can also send and receive text messages and email. Asiana offers two in-flight magazines, ‘Asiana’ (a travel magazine) and ‘Asiana Entertainment’, which are available to all passengers on board the flight. Asiana Airlines serves highly nutritious Ssambap and Bibimbap as unique Korean dishes, as well as various other Korean dishes depending on the route flown to. In addition to traditional foods from the various places of departure and arrival, the airline serves western dishes, Chinese dishes, Japanese dishes and various snack foods. The wines are selected by professional sommeliers through blind taste tests to maximize your in-flight experience. The airline also serves a variety of liquor, as well as beer, various teas, and juices.

Routes
  • The airline serves destinations on four continents with an extremely well-developed Asian network that includes important cities in the People’s Republic of China, Japan, Southeast Asia and Central Asia. Asiana Airways serves a number of gateway cities in North America and Europe while also maintaining a limited coverage of Oceania. The first airline to develop regular passenger routes between Seoul and Tashkent, Almaty, Siem Reap, Phnom Penhand Koror, Asiana Airways has a well-connected route network. Apart from the regular routes, Asiana also has served a number of seasonal charter routes from Seoul to particular tourist attractions such as Brunei, Nha Trang, Qiqihar and Zhangjiajie. Asiana Cargo, the airline’s subsidiary for cargo, also has a wide network, especially in Europe and North America, and currently serves some of the cities for which Asiana does not offer regular passenger services, such as Brussels, Vienna, Milan, Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, Portland and Oslo. With plans to launch a new passenger route between Seoul and Wuxi by December 2013, and trying to achieve a new traffic right for a Korea-Mongolia route, Asiana is also considering larger and more investment in Seoul-Central Asia routes, including launching a new service to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, by February 2014.
