5 Eco Adventures to Have in Costa Rica

5 Eco Adventures to Have in Costa Rica

Book a flight to this tropical eco-tourism destination in the world, Costa Rica has the right to brag. This tiny bi-coastal country in southern Central America has around 15 distinct environments to tour, varying from hilly cloud jungles to immaculate shores. With 75 national parks and plenty of bio zones, there is surely no scarcity of pursuits to attract tourists in the great outdoors.

Costa Rica isn’t holding back. From whitewater rafting to zip lining and trekking, here are just a couple of reasons why Costa Rica is a hit with Eco tourists:

Watch sea turtles nest.

From mid-July until early fall, Costa Rica is one of the few destinations in the world where sea turtles arrive to the nest. On the eastern shore, Tortuguero National Park becomes a non-permanent domain to not only the threatened green sea turtles, but the leatherback, hawksbill, and loggerhead turtles, as well. That’s four distinct types you could see all in one site!

Tour a volcano.

Of the 20 national parks in Costa Rica, nearly a small amount of them have mobile volcanoes. An actual adrenaline rush, if you’re not scared of taking the heat (and desire yourself a little like the hobbits from The Lord of the Rings), make time to visit Turrialba Volcano National Park and trek to the middle of the pit as the lava sizzles and bubbles beneath you.

Go chasing waterfalls.

They say, “Pura Vida” plenty in Costa Rica. It means “pure life” and it’s simple to see why as it incorporates the pure, purified nature you’ll discover there. The country is certainly filled with waterfalls (pun intended). Some of the most famous waterfall treks comprise of Baios del Toro, Santa Juana Mountain, and Rio Celeste.

Trek across the rainforest.

Not to be outshined by the waterways, jungles are also a large amount in Costa Rica. For romance, hot springs, and astonishing rainforest treks, travel to the region famous as the Garden of Eden in Arenal, but both the western and eastern shores provide monkeys and cloud cover to get lost and found.

Glide across the canopies.

The ideal way to hug the charm of Costa Rica is from above with a canopy trek. Once again, Arenal makes the summit stop with its Hanging Bridges Hike and many ziplines in the area. We also suggest the Los Angeles Cloud Forest Reserve, one of Costa Rica’s top kept secrets. If your schedule permits it, attempt to tour these locations in the early morning hours or late afternoon when the natives (aka wildlife) are liveliest.
