5 Ways to Travel Without leaving Home!

5 Ways to Travel Without leaving Home!

Whoever said he/she can’t travel from home, should get a life. I mean it’s virtual but still? We all know that everyone is experiencing a pretty unusual time right now as the coronavirus or COVID-19, the world’s greatest health crisis of our existence, is happening at the moment.

The infection is affecting our health, day to day work, and of course all the travel and holiday plans. No matter how much we want to travel, we can’t do it. Now is the time to be happy, safe and jolly!

Relax on your beloved armchair since it’s the perfect opportunity to sit steady, be attentive and thoughtful, and shape for the future.

It isn’t always about putting on a bikini, or pretending you’re in the Caribbean, but about preparing a meal from your desired country & binge-watching a movie, tv series, travel documentaries, or learning a new language and finding different ways of experiencing travel right from the comfort of your home.

Preparing a dish from your favourite country

The most prioritized part about my travelling is the FOOD! Nutritious bowls of Japanese ramen, silky Italian pizza & pasta, aromatic Thai curries, Mexican tacos, the menu goes on. What more satisfying way to enjoy the savour of a destination in your back garden? BBC Food has all the food recipes in it, and also if you are in quarantine right now, you can get the essentials delivered to your door.

Tip: Try out some signature cocktails from various countries

Binge watch some travel documentaries, Netflix

Even if you have a Netflix or Amazon Prime subscription, you’ll find loads of TV shows to indulge your wanderlust. I treasure the travel series Simon Reeve presents for the BBC. He goes beneath the surface of the destinations he tours, gathering locals and seeing out the real issues people are dealing in this realistic world. It won’t make you want to book a trip, but it’s an excellent way of knowing the world. The foodaholics can try watching street food, Chef’s table or Ugly Delicious.

Tip: Watch YouTube videos of top travel vloggers

Print your preferred travel photos and make a portfolio

Is there a more reliable way to reconnect with your travels than to go look back through your experiences one photo at a time? I have a few travel notes from my first backpacking trips, which include tickets, photos and souvenirs I stuck in. As I get older, they’re pleasant to flick through as I relive all the tiny details and the souls I met on the way.

Tip: Visit a gallery or a famous museum, virtually

Read a travelogue or a magazine that is produced overseas

How about reading a travel-themed book? Someplace that shares an epic adventure or is set somewhere exotic? Regardless of your liking to fiction or non-fiction, here are a few to rise you off;

  • Eat Pray Love – Elizabeth Gilbert
  • The Beach – Alex Garland
  • Dark Star Safari – Overland from Cairo to Cape Town by Paul Theroux
  • On The Road – Jack Kerouac
  • The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho

Tip: Drench yourself with some music of the destination in your bucket list.

Learn a foreign language using an app or a magazine

Via the app Duolingo, it’s an intelligent way to start making up some vocabulary and basic catchwords. The app is widely available, and has programs in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Arabic, Hindi, Korean, Greek and more! You will be able to talk with the locals with no uncertainty, and it will help with clever travel planning too.

Tip: Research about your dream destination from our blog

Travel plans are on hold for the foreseeable future but does that mean you can’t have a travel experience of some sort? Well, Travel Center work hard to fulfil your travel dreams, so stay tuned with us for more interesting articles.
